For our five-year anniversary my husband and I decided to take a trip to France. We had already done the whirlwind European tour and this time we wanted to slow down and savor all the food and shopping France had to offer. We concentrated on Paris and Lyon, but we took a day trip to Annecy to satisfy my need to explore!
Annecy is appropriately named the Venice of France. Close to the French Alps, it’s full of waterways and medieval architecture. It was truly a dream and I almost wish we had stayed for longer to enjoy the lake for a full day.
If you just have a day, grab a baguette sandwich at Boulangerie Patis Rouge and sit by the canal for a little people watching. Do a little shopping at Daisy and Stanley and go see the view of the whole city below from the Chateau d’Annecy. It’s an adventure you won’t soon forget!
Getting There
Annecy is a 2-hour train ride from Lyon.

Love Annecy. We live forty-five minutes away from it and it is my favorite day trip. You’ve inspired me to go back and explore more. Thank you!
